Think back to the last time you did something that was significant. I’ll be willing to bet that three things were true.
1. You were there on purpose.
2. You were not going along with the crowd.
3. You paid a price.
I have not done a huge amount of traveling, but everywhere I’ve been that is significant, I’ve had to exit the interstate and jump on some back roads. When my family and I head up to Snow Shoe Mountain Resort to do some skiing, we leave the interstate and travel down some serious back roads. We drive through steep grades, sharp curves, and treacherous road conditions because we know that at the summit is some of the best skiing on the east coast.
Anytime we do something remarkable we break direction with the crowd, we decide on a course, and we take some risks knowing that what is at the end is worth it. We will never find what we are after on the interstate of life. We need to get on the back roads! I hope you will choose the back roads with me.
